Navigation: Core Wilderness Skill

So there I was, I just found a geo-cache deep in the back woods of northern Virginia outside Shenandoah National Park. It was a long slog off trail in dense forest looking for a hidden treasure with my trusty Garmin MAP 60-csx. It was a long walk in summer and my water was running a little low. It was day trip so I had just a couple of granola bars and a piece of fruit in my daypack. Night was just beginning to creep in as the sun set behind the high hills.
